Socks, must they be pairs??

Socks, must they be pairs??
It would appear that Mrs Mart and i have differing opinions on sock pairing!
She is adamant that socks must be paired, and cannot be worn otherwise.
My viewpoint is that other than glaringly obvious mis matches, anything goes.
The objects in question are the multipacks, either with toe and heel in dirffering colours or days of weeks on side etc. Predominantly they are all black though.
To me whether one foot has a red toe and the other blue, makes no difference.
Ive allready got my ""safety"" clean undies on, which will prevent me from being run over by a bus, or do odd socks reverse the protection afforded by the clean undies?
To her its a cardinal sin ...

Every few years i replace my current socks with a few dozen identical new socks (and throw the old ones away).
No worries about odd socks, mismatched socks or anything.
Yup i have a few other "specialist" socks (extra thick, waterproof, gym etc.), but they can be "managed" separately.

If a man can't be bothered to match his socks properly were does it all end? Inside out underpants?(or worse, none) T shirt on backwards? Shorts worn with grey socks and sandals? Silly Christmas jumper worn without shame? The mind boggles!

For me, socks should be paired to the like. But for some others e.g. my daughter, she doesn't give a flying funk whether they're odd or what. It does annoy me to see her feet in odd socks.

Well, it makes me very uncomfortable, too. But im not so OCD about it that I urge to punch something or feel so restless that dread the location with the threat (odd socks) in it; glaring at me with its repulsive, invisible eyes. I just divert my attention to something else and deep breathe like Buddha. That's what you do, when you have no choice, innit.
Perhaps he has either some learning difficulty/ies, autism or some other issue that is causing it.

I had this same chat a while ago with the wife, I told her the pattern (Sesame Street characters in my case!) was in a place where it would be covered by a shoe, so there was no need to match those socks.
She told me that was another fact I could add to Dave-O-Pedia
When I asked what Dave-O-Pedia was, she told me its kinda like Wikipedia, only its always wrong!

Possibly. I think they rebel against the norms to the point that they start to believe that they're looking cool n' wicked with odd socks on. But factually they look like complete fvvkwits like that.

Merry xmas to you too

Fail.
Wear n' tear is excluded. We're talking about the oddness of the colour, patterns etc. here; between the two.
Hole or elastic going all fvvked up or bobbles all over or covered with your pet's hair, doesn't matter. If the sock is from the same pair, then it's not an odd sock.

Bulk buy a load of plain black socks and throw the old ones out.

Have tried the bulk buy black ones, but they have to be the same, nothing can ruin your day like getting to work and finding out that one is an inch longer than the other one
Even if they are the same, the odds are that some will get worn/washed more than others, so the 'shade' of black can be slightly different when you are random matching, and not sure that is a risk worth taking!
Coloured toes and heals, match them and rotate often, is the only way in a civilised world
