Default This Satellite Malarky

Buying a new house. It has 2 buildings, both with Satellite Dishes & the previous owners had multi-room Sky. However, its silly money or at least more than I want to spend.

As I understand, I can use FreeSat on those dishes? What do I need to do to get multi-room in one of the buildings using FreeSat?

I'm not sure normal TV works in this location

I use freesat with the Sky dish that was installed by the previous owners. The installer had flung white cable through gutters and over a red pantile roof and it didn't include an extension, so I ran new cable through attics, reused the existing quad LNB and took two pairs to each of two rooms. The pair means you can record one channel whilst watching another. Or you could have four rooms and no recording of a second channel. Or get more than a quad LNB. Used good cable as one run is 60m. Works great for HD.

Conduits to pull through ethernet cable and whatever copper or fibre optic it upgrades to in future would be a good idea IMHO. With two buildings, especially if big or distances between them and modern insulation often using foil, wireless is crap. Powerline is better, wired is far better still.

Learned something, thanks guys. That is what an LNB is. So on the main house we'll hook up a number of rooms and just Freesat the other building. Hope I have a multi LNB as otherwise I'll be changing it over and losing the satellite signal

Will be running Cat6 & alarm cable anyway, so will ensure the buildings are suitably well linked.

You won't lose the signal by simply changing LNB

2 things I've learned then though last time I tried to line up a satellite, completely failed, so I haven't a good track record or knowledge!
