Question

I am looking to buy 2 sets of pedals and pair of shoes for my bikes. One is a mountain bike, the other a road bike.

Is there a 'universal' type pedal for both purposes?? I have been looking on wiggle.co.uk for ideas but would like some help from you guys.

Cheers

Paul

Shimano do an off road pedal / clip / shoe that is suitable for both, with a couple of provisos. The shoe is designed to withstand off road use and so is a bit chunky looking for pure road use. A dedicated road shoe and clip will not however, be substantial enough for off road use. The pedals are about 30 quid a set and the shoes about 40 quid. For most circumstances they are adequate for road use (my youngest is currently second in the Isle of Man road championship in his age group) so the pedal and shoe will work competitivly on the road. Off road is no problem at all in them. If you are interested I will send you details when I get home from work.
Hope this helps,
Ken
