A Close friend of mine was stood in front of a police T5, the PC shouted at him to get out of the way. My Friend didn't, and was promptly arrested, but not cuffed. A Crowd gathered around the T5, and my friend saw an opportunity and legged it. The PC did not give chase

Last week, my Car was stopped and we were all dragged out,put in cuffs, with my friend being arrested and locked up all night for :

"Escaping lawful Custody" & "Obstructing a police officer in the course of his duties".

This is his first run in with the law.

Anyone any idea what sort of penalty/shafting would be handed out.

I would report it to the Police complaints division.
They are way out of order for arresting him for that. They should have used 'reasonable force' to move him out of the way first, then possibly arrested him if he was stroppy or moved back in front of the T5. At the very least they should have warned him.
Total abuse of power. That's the sort of thing that gives the police a bad name.
