The **** stuff is funny, but FFS!!! The prices!!!! Rip off merchants.
I intend to do a bit of ranting towards FIFA
I guess it was lucky in a way that I was unable to play in a footie team back when I was at school (no interest from other girls pathetic and of course the leagues did not allow mixed teams ) as I became a referee and I thoroughly enjoy it (when not injured )
However, all I wanted when we were in the World Cup, was a decent England top suitable for a female physique.
Bunch of [oops oooer ], I mean the []AMERICANS take women in football more seriously, even though they refuse to acknowledge it's real name and call it soccer instead
I think it is shameful when the home of football cannot accept that there are a HUGE amount of female supportes and not idiotic GIRLS after Beckham tops (WTF do they see in him??????)
Michelle.

Even male ones, I would like your opinions and comments.
I am [naughty word ]of to high hot place about marketing techniques and merchandise sold for football fans.
As far as I am concerned, the word "fan" covers both the male and female gender.
According to media, shops, etc, etc, it means male.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE SUNSHINE.......we female supporters DO exist!
I walked into a variety of sport shops looking for a nice fitting England type top for me to wear as I already own two decent England shirts
I found none
My mood darkened and I stalked into Topshop, New Look, Bay Trading, River Island to try and find some.
Bay trading and River Island were a waste of space.
This is what drove me mad though. In Topshop and New Look, all I could find was England wear with the numbers 7 or 10 on them
That was it, I lost my temper. I proceeded to ask for the managers of both stores and told them that I would no longer purchase clothes from them as they seemed to think that female football supporters all liked Beckham.
Fair enough they are cashing in on the dozy females who dribble and drool like idiots when they see David [another naughty word]Beckham or Michael Owen and only wear the England stuff cos it represents those two
BUT
They are [that word again ]off people like me, the real female supporters.
My gripe is with the Sports shops too fancy not catering for the females
On another rant, I will not purchase clothes from JJB sports as the one local to me sells the Manchester United kit, but none of the midlands teams kits!!!!!!!!
RANT OVER - quick, pass me my pills

I trawled all the shops and eventually found a navy vest with an England logo but no number on it in Select (I really wanted a red or white top but settled for what I could get in the end).
All I saw in Next were anti-football sloganned shirts
I used to buy a lot of football stuff when I regularly attended matches, but always had to buy mens things. Funny that, I would have thought that more women were into football than motorsport (judging by the proportions I have seen when attending both live), yet I have never had a problem buying women's rally teamwear.
All the sports shops and even the card shops round here sell Man U and Liverpool stuff and we're 20 miles from London

They are missing out on a big market.
As far as I am concerned, the above shops have lost potential future sales from me and some of my friends.
Drives me mad

Hmmm
Fashion shops are for Girlies so you won't find "Sportswear" in there (only stuff for gooeey eyed girlies that probably don't know what Becks does for a Job - other than being Posh's husband ).
Sports shops are for sports people - Football is a man's game (in the eyes of the men than run it not me ) so you won't find girlie sizes
I think you need to take your argument to the manufacturers or FIFA - I think it's them that have to address this one

It's been pretty quiet in here since Engerland went out - maybe you could slightly abuse your powers and move this thread to General - after all it's actually World cup related (or it could be argued that it isn't )
I think this thread has potential but not in here

Chelle - I'm with you on any action you fancy!
Bl**dy awful how female football supporters are treated, in the end I just settle for the blokes stuff - but being 5ft 11 I can do that! The only football team I've seen producing womens stuff were Gillingham FC (who? I hear you cry!) but that was when they were 3rd division and as an "exiled Gill" now I couldn't say. Yet this was still only t-shirts and not the "proper" ones.
I know what you mean about school too - I went to a girls school (no jokes please boys!) and ended up coaching the football team when I reached the sixth form, luckly we got lots of support from the Gills players and a couple of years after I left they were still going and won the county championship
If it's any consolation - it's the same for other sports - try buying a basketball top that doesn't show your ....you get my point

So if i start a company making tiny crop tops, flimsy summer dresses and (very) shorts, all in assorted footie liveries, that will satisfy.
The men of course

No probs sammy
I wanted it to move into non scooby, might get more of a response
I think this idea of writing to FIFA or another official board to get ourselves heard is a good thing

Michelle,
As you dont live in Manchester that makes you a Man Utd fan see as we all know that Man Utd fans dont actually come from Manchester and live in the rest of the UK thats why you can only get their kit
Now live in Manchester and you can get kits like villa and derby (oh and some City club from up north )
Tony
