Hi all,
This has been doing my head in for ages.
Four of five years ago, a friend at work leant me a stack of paperback novels.
Now these were an absolute laugh a minute, I was actually crying with laughter at one point, but now I want to go back and start reading him again I can't remember his name.
The books were all set in South Africa, and most of them had SA police as main characters.
I seem to remember the covers were similar in style to the discworld Pratchet books.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out with a name.
Andrew.

Tom Sharpe - Blott, Wilt series etc. Superb. Published by Pan Books.
Dedicated as follows:
"For all those members of the South African Police Force whose lives are dedicated to the preservation of Western Civilization in Southern Africa"
Riotous Assembly is a good start plus
Blott on the Landscape
The Throwback
Ancestral Vices
Porterhose Blue - this was on UK telly
The Great Pursuit
Wilt on High
Vintage Stuff
Wilt
Indecent Exposure
The Wilt Alternative
Also look up Boyd (I think William) who wrote a great comedy set in West Africa.
Hope this is what you are after. Enjoy. David

David,
I owe you a pint although you're a bit far away
That is definitely the one. I couldn't remember the character wilt, but as soon as I saw it I knew that was the one.
Can't remember which book it was in, but there is a part of the story where wilt gets his 'tackle' damaged and the nurse tries to inject him with painkillers. I had tears of laughter running down my face
Thanks again,
Andrew.

Andrew the 'tackle damaged' bit is from Indecent Exposure wasn't it Lutenant Verkramp?
