How much would I be looking to pay roughly on a £60,000 mortgage?

If I have £6,000 deposit?

For me and my girlfriend, 21 years old.

Where's the best place to go?

Also are there any decent online estate agents?

Cheers.

I generally find the online area of estate agents round me are crap. Totally inflexible search and very little information.

http://www.your-move.co.uk/html/default.htm has some good information though.

On a £54k mortgage at 8% you'd pay about £416.78

DJ Dunk - I only pay £408 on a 73k, 25 year repayment mortgage.

Rik - Get a load of quotes online and perhaps a mortgage promise from another company and then go to your bank and ask them to match it.

Assuming you fix at 5.65% (seems to be the going rate for a 2 year deal):

£60,000 £373.85 (8% £863.09)
£54,000 £336.46 (8% £416.78)

wasn't sure whether you were borrowing £54k or £60k so put both. Budget for 8% assuming base rates go up from 4 to 6 (they are expected to increase towards the end of this year)

On 65K fixed at 5.99% for seven years I pay 316 a month. Interest only mind, so if you are repaying it'll be more.

Cool

Consensus is that base rates will go up a max of 1% - but most now think that no rate rises will occur in the near future, with poor equity markets and inflation staying below the BofE's 2.5% ceiling.

You can get 2-5 yr discount mortgages for about 4-5% - that's why the property market is so hot - money is cheap my man! Work out your repaymen online - most banks have online mortgage calculators on thier sites....reckon on £400ish. Anyone paying £800 for a 60k mortgage is getting fleeced!

Exclamation

I think £863.09 must have been a typo. More like £363.09

Try Charcoal-online, they give you all the current best mortgage
rates and they are not affiliated to anyone (AFAIK)
