2km wide and travelling at 23km/s when it hits the Earth. The first Object to be given a positive rating on the likely hood of hitting the Earth.
Nice!

Better round up Bruce Willis & the boys then ....
If anyone saw the crappy TV series "The Last Train", at least we can be assured that Mercedes vans will still work after a meteor strike

Has anyone given it an endorsement yet?
Nike? ("All the biggest hitters use Nike")
Coka Cola? ("Just for the taste of it...")
Burger King? ("Asteroid Whopper with Fries please")
Microsoft? ("Thats 2 degrees of seperation and we all live!")
Direct Line Insurance?.... maybe not

This has been given a rating of 0.06 on the Palermo technical scale.
I lifted this straight from /. and have no clue what it means

Will this object be given a "terrorrist" status by Bush? He'll probably make a wara against meteorites thus securing his place in the next general elections..

<Even now you can see hoards of people rushing to the supermarket to stock up on powdered milk & tins of prunes >
Wouldnt like to share the same fallout shelter with them
On the upside though I'd have a crack at a one hour lap of the M25 if it were really bearing down on us
astraboy.

Hilarious remarks
The prunes I wouldn't top up on, but the blast around some roads sounds good
I would speed past every fecking camera trying to pull a moony and sticking my middle finger up at em

"The error in our knowledge of where NT7 will be on 1
February, 2019, is large, several tens of millions of kilometres," he said.

The Palermo scale is a scale that compares the impact probability of the predicted event to the hazard posed by the background NEO population, taking into account the estimated size of the object
and the time interval until the encounter. An object having the same or higher impact probability as that of the background population will have a Palermo Technical Scale value equal to or greater than zero. In most cases, such events will fall at a value of 1 or higher on the 0-10 point Torino Scale, a scale intended for public communication of impact hazard risks.
i.e: Not much chance...
I'm still gonna do some looting though, cause i'm in a mean mood.

Nimbus I have to disagree with your logic on this:
Surface area of Human body = quit large
Surface area of Human eye = quit small
so why is it a fly will always hit you in the eye?????

Sorry mate, but if a 2km-wide bit of rock hit the BB house, you'd be vaporised in Woking (well, dead anyway). Not me though, I'll make a point of walking my dog, and the dog never dies.
