Not a Scooby, but my gf's car will not tick over and is a bit ropey when accelerating. Its a VW beetle, and one of the large pipes on the engine, the cold air feed i believe, has been broken by the mechanics when it went in for recent work.

Is this likely to be the cause of the problems? or should we be thinking plugs etc???

IIRC, Beetles have a slow running solenoid on the carburettor, check that the wire hasn't been disconnected.
