I support any direct action against GATSOS and parking meters. The public must fight back, enough is enough.
I was delighted to see the GATSOS on the A2 through Bexleyheath have had black spray paint put over the lenses and the flash units.

They have knocked out 30 Gatso cameras by spray painting them on a 27-mile stretch of the North Circular.

A spokesman said: "In three years 112 people have been killed and seriously injured in the vicinity of the cameras that were vandalised. There were 800 injuries in total in areas near the cameras

more taxes to pay for repairs to GATSOs?
Maybe if enough of them get trashed someone will get the message - these things are a p*ss take. Maybe the government would like to put up a camera outside my house to see what time I get up for work and whether or not I break any speed limits when parking, or park in the direction of traffic flow or whatever.
There has got to be a limit to how much our lives are interfered with by bureaucrats and politicians who are acting in their own self interest. At least a human cop can use his judgement (if they choose to)as to what is safe under the circumstances and what is irresponsible. With a camera it's just - that was 52 mph, you're nicked -
If we have enough speed humps and gatsos and all the rest of it maybe the whole place will grind to a halt and we can all forget about earning a living, paying taxes etc, go back to our caves with a bottle of scotch under our arms and call it a day...

caves it is then
I think the going rate for a speed camera install is something like £30,000 +, so just think how many fines you need just to cover the cost.
But to put it in perspective, the purely financial cost of 1 life lost is about £1,600,000 so if they really want to save lives, the revenue/returns business is just such moopoo. Councils often have to fork up the money to put a camera in if they feel it will do some good, but somehow I doubt the £30k Vs £1.6m goes down very well with the bleedin bean counter scum.
I used to pass the country's most profitable camera every day on the way home from work. It's the one at the london end of the M11 where it goes to 2 lanes and a 50mph limit. No big speed limit signs on yellow boards, no camera warning signs, just a bunch of mesmorised drivers trying to get home suddenly standing on the brakes to avoid 3 points.
Safe indeed.
