Saw this yesterday somewhere south of Glasgow IIRC, started something like EMN. Are those plates not illegal? I thought the car had to be pre 1970 or thereabouts.

Looked a bit of a pimp mobile with black tints as well.

Wink

Car REG has to be pre-1973 I think it is...

So if a private plate older than that the black plates are fine..

I was wondering about doing my plates in black/silver as my plate is northern ireland plate re-registered here in England
"TAZ ****" where the * are numbers..

You tell me how old it is officer?

I've seen a TT with 'classic' black / silver number plates on recently as well.

Guernsey plates are just numbers, but some of them are silver on black...

Surely that's illegal though, since the X5 wasn't registered before '73? Is it not the car it applies to, rather than the date of the reg?

The plates are for pre '72 cars as i had a 72 beetle and got pulled for having them.

Technically they are illegal on newer cars but would take a seriously moody policeman to pull you. Saying that, is it worth giving them the excuse...
