me!

Used to do the coarse fishing thing alot but work always seems to stop me lately. Now all I get is a couple of hours pike fihing in the canal with a lure rod if i'm lucky.

Was meant to be going wreck and tope fishing in a couple of weeks but works stumped me again.

Where you from?

Going tomorrow night for a couple of nights.

The weather's getting cooler and the bigguns are starting to show a bit more now the lake isn't packed out 24/7.

Yeh - I used to do a lot of fishing on a salmon river near us but have had to give it up. Too much hassle from the b*stard horses who always nick in and steal your spot on the bank when you go for a pee. Just because they're good hunters does'nt mean they're good fishermen.

I'm a bit of an angler myslef having fished for about 20 years. Used to work in the tackle trade too when i was a teenager. That brings back horro stories of having to clean maggots, Yuk not a nice job.

Fished Gold Valley twice last week and going down to the Royalty on Saturday for some chub and barbel fishing. Fishing Lake Farm near Ringwood on Sunday for some carp bashing on the pole and to see if I can top an 18lb on the pole I had a few weeks back.Iaso run a lake in North London , Boxers lake, but that got polluted 2 years ago and was pretty much wiped out.Shame as it was a cracking lake with lots of mid double and used ot fish every eveing and get between 2 -10 fish averaging 15lb.

Nowadays fish mainly for carp having had a great year the year before last doing several 20s from a number of waters and my first 30 off the top at Walthamstow. Used to fish the River Lea pretty much exclusively for chub and barbel with some success too ! Got a few double figure barbel and chub to over 6lb.

I'm always up for fishing so if any of you want to go one day let me know !Not too fussed what I fish for or where.

Scoobynet fishing day must be done !

Here's a fish I caught about 12 years ago, when I used to live in Scotland:

I was so tired after the fight (45mins in a fast river) that I didn't have enough strength left in my arms to hold it up!

Can anyone help me identify these fish? I caught these ones today!

funnily, I'm after a koi that's in the lake I fish ... however it should be just over 40lb this winter

Often see them basking in the summer - never catch the buggers off the top though ....

Will dig this thread out and post the pic when I do get it ...

I fish, quite a lot actually. Used to be into match fishing but recently ( last two years) mostly fly. I'll try anything except boat seafishing (crap sailor) or any of that bivie and boily nonsense, glorified camping in my opinion.

Anyone in the area fancy a day let me know.
Big charity pike match at Broadlands on Sunday, I won't be there unfortunately, track day at Rockingham.

Yes, match fishing all the time, superleagues, winter leagues, nationals all over the country but mostly south east. Fish Gold Valley quite often, will be there tomorrow for our last superleague.
Nice carp AlanB, could do with one of them in our match tomorrow.

Just started fishing this year, thanks to Bravo2Zero!!!
My wife's not too impressed however!!

We've fished over in Kent and we are currently checking out
essex fisheries, cant believe how much Carp gear has dropped in price.

As he said earlier we need less boozing and larking about, and a bit of concentration.

I actually found a place, where you need an unhooking mat the size of a single bed and they ban alchohol and barbeques!!!

Everything in moderation i say!! Killjoys!!

I cannot believe how peaceful this is, and a real contrast to the city work scene.

Just hope i can get out a bit more now, as well as try a night fish.

there should be a weekly slot on here with good venues that people could list, however i guess a lot of fishermen keep that info to themselves. Shame!! :-(

Just ordered some Diawa ledgering gear (which Bravo2Zero can help me set up!!!) (cheers mate!)

so hopefully next weekend will bring a big fish to me!!

BB

Do any of the bivy boys take float rods so they can actually catch
fish while waiting three days for a carp . Personally I'd rather
struggle trying to stop the tiddlers from taking in my bait than spend three days sitting in a tent listening for the sound of a bite alarm.

Yeah Bravo2zero does both, thats why i bought a ledger rod, to do both also.

I know what you mean about waiting, but we had some good float action in tunbridge with small hooks and mixed maggs!!

best of both worlds if you like.

Question

Ok....fishing...what's that all about, eh?? You sit there in the rain keeping still and quiet so's not to scare off the little fishies......errrrmmmm.....boring perhaps?

No, I'm not putting my flame suit on! Though I did pose the question a little provocatively I'm not after a slanging match....just curious! I just thought this way might get an answer!

D3Man, fished gold just recently and its not fishing great. That said my mate and I caught far more than the match boys fishing tiny bits of meat just over the marginal shelf. Loads of crucians and bream and lots of carp too. The biggest one went about 15lb.

Simon Gould won the last match there with about 49lb and the backing weights were down in the 30s.

bravo has just summed it up, there is nothing better when you have had a t1tful of work, than walking out the office on a sunny friday afternoon and chilling by the bank. It doesent even bother me if I dont catch, it's the countryside, the water, and the getting away from it all that matters.

Fishing is just something to pass the time while you're sat by the water.

Fishing can be whatever you want it to be a big camping trip with friends stella and skunk or solitary just one man and his dog (my favourite) you can also if the fancy takes you go match fishing and get all competetive but you won't understand until you try it a few times and the bug hits just like cars.
