This works, done it a couple of times myself.
If the ticket is not actually on the (your) car then get in and drive off before the **** warden puts it on the car.
If it isn’t on the car it ain't a ticket.
They will engage you in conversation so you chgat to them as they write it to try to ensure you get a ticket and they meet their quota.

They cannot block your way, you have not got the ticket yet so you have not in effect commited an offence, they know this and will not block you in. (asked a friend who is a lawyer about this bit)
just a thought - when looking at the donut do you just see the hole in the middle?

So what happens if you get a ticket, for overstaying in a car park ( In a York car park ). After leaving the car park, tearing up the ticket and throwing it in a bin...Its been over 6 weeks now, and heard nothing...lol
I know by typing this message, they will send the entire police force headed by Tony Blair and Fatty Prescott round to collect the fine

As soon as the ticket is punched into the machine it is a valid ticket.
It does not have to be placed on the car. We could all try the defence of it was never there in the first place otherwise.
*Disclaimer* This is what was said on Mike Dikin's show last week on talk sport when the had a phone in about parking tickets.

Nope, theyre right you CAN drive away before he sticks it to the vehicle and he CAN then invalidate it on his handheld gizmo. I have done this loads in my transit van, I see the ba$tard writing it and I dive in through the passenger door and scream off
But sometimes I'm far too late and have had tickets and even clamps I spose thats driving in London for you

I tried driving off before he put the ticket on my car, and when they sent the ticket through the post a couple of weeks later i obviously contested it. The problem was the warden claimed he had put it on the car - my word against his... Guess who the parking company listened to?!? it wasn't me...
Bugger it!

My car has picked up two tickets - and I've not had to pay a penny!
One ticket was picked up off the road as I was driving along, and got stuck to the numberplate - dunno where it came from, but deffinitely wasn't intended for my car.
Second was placed on my car in an area where I thought I was leagally parking for free (place put markings there within a few weeks). Anyway, on checking the ticket the dopey wardon missed a character off my reg no. Never heard anything since!
