On the M25 J22 to J24, and probably elsewhere.....

Fire fighters Strike

Drive with Extra Care !
FFS do they think I will drive more or less carefully because there is a strike on? Is it now OK to drive less carefully when the strike ends?

All they do is slow peolpe down who look at them

I see what there getting at, if you have an accident there may not be anyone to cut you out, but I for one drive as carefully as I can all the time.

David

They're on the M6 as well.

I can not wait for the strike to finish so that I can drive recklessly again

I saw those on Friday evening on the M25 between junctions 14 and 15. I thought they were a bit silly too, at first - then it occurred to me that there's only one thing worse than being cut from the wreckage of a mangled scooby, and that's NOT being cut from the wreckage of a mangled scooby.

I dropped back from the car in front and slowed down.

Cool

It's not that YOU drive carefully it is the idiot who doesn't and crashes into you trapping YOU in your car that you were driving sensibly and below the speedlimit.

Thumbs up

I saw them today on the M6 and thought they were a good reminder.
If those signs stopped one accident, it was worth the effort.

Point taken, but what I'm saying is that irrespective of a strike people should drive with that hightened level of care at all times.

Yes I'm looking forward to the end of the fire strike, when the signs will display:-

Fire Strike Over, you may now drive flat out.
Have a nice day!

Well I think it's a load of rubbish!!!! Like Dave said, it's not as if you drive carelessly the rest of the time is it? (having said that, I'd say the evidence is that a large number of people never drive any other way, especially on the Motorway )

It's like those Baby On Board stickers. They seem like a good idea but if you think about it, how many people were going to drive like a ****/dangerously and then see the sticker and think, "oh, Baby on board - I won't drive dangerously around *them*" . Anyway, in my experience the BoB sticker seems just to be a license for the owner to drive like a **** anyway.....

(sorry, got carried away there )

I think the sign has the best intentions but is poorly thought out, and may just wake up one of the many daydreaming sheep that litter the motorways, especially during rush hour.....

All just IMHO of course

Firemen and paramedics don't like the Baby on Board stickers as in an horrific accident, they spend a lot of time looking, in case there is one there...
