URGENT!!!! Renting a room?

My sister is renting a room in Swindon but a problem has come up. this is the second time she has seen maggots in her bedroom (the one she renting) but this time maggots are falling out from the ceiling. according to her contract she has to give one month notice, but with this happening she wants to move out asap. where does she stand on moving out asap?

Get her to mention the words "environmental health" to her landlord. Had to do the same with a place i rented once and the matter was settled very quickly.
I'm sure that she'll get it sorted pretty quick or at least get away with the months notice period.

i used to be a pest control tech.
Ask the landlord to go in the loft and check it out. its probably a couple of dead pigeons or a cat thats made its way in through a hole in the roof, thentell him to clear it up!

The room is obviously unsafe - there are potential health hazards to your sister. Maggots falling from the ceiling also indicates holes in said ceiling...

Stuff that negotiation lark. Tell her to phone directory enquiries and get the number of the nearest Env. Health office, phone it up and invite them round. Costs her a phone call.

landlady is getting someone to have a look at the problem 
my sister is to scared to do anything she is to nice. the problem is that i live a bit far from swindon but if there is going to be problems im gonna have to go down and help her sort it out.
