Question

Not sure wether to post this in general or in non scooby, so I'll play safe and post in non scooby, if moderators think it worthy then please move it to general.

OK, on with the show.

As some may have noticed the price of 95RON seems to have dropped to around 79.9 in most places, namely sainsbury's, but also I've noticed it in texaco and esso stations.

Anyone know if there has been a price drop in SUL??? if so then from what to what?

I run the wagon on 95 so I've not noticed if SUL has dropped in price, plus the petrol stations I frequent don't display the price of SUL on thier main board.

Yes, since the start of August I've been paying 2p/litre less (89.9 to 87.9 for Shell, even found 86.9 for Esso).

The price has gone down.

My last fill-up was at the Shell garage in Epsom and I paid 86p/l which was even less than the LRP. The fill-up before that I paid 92.? p/l up near Peterborough.

Why is SUL around 9% dearer then UL, yet only 2% higher octane rating?

Just a thought!

Paul,

e-mail me the garage name please!

At that price SUL is pretty much cooking price, and the extra MPG should make it cheaper!

Petrol was 61p a litre when I first passed my test, in just over 7 years it has nearly doubled

I thought I was seeing things then

The car has changed a bit since then, as well as the price of fuel.

My first gallon was about 6/8 I think . For those of you too young to remember, this was also the price of a 45 rpm single record and you could buy 3 for £1. I remember debating whether this new-fangled stereo gimmic was likely to catch on and whether it was worth paying more for it.

I remember £1.70 a gallon in the 80's, and a big fuss when it approached the big £2 mark.

Hello

I used to work in a petrol station, and remember joking that it'll be easier to calculate the price if it ever gets to £1 a gallon. It seemed very far fetched...

Are you sure?! I passed my test in July 1995 and I've always been fairly certain that Unleaded was 47.9p the first time I filled up.
