Massive shot in the dark this...but did you mean David Arnold and the bird being Aimee Mann. That would vaguely fit if the show you saw was the thing I saw a year or two ago but repeated??
David Arnold had done the scores to the recent bond films since the original guy John Barry died. He did an album with contemporary artists doing classic bond themes (which wasn't that good) and she was one of the birds that was blonde who covered one of the songs.
Might be way off the mark though, depends who Russel is

russell watson and this was less than a couple of months ago - he did a bond (okay they were all bond songs) with Atomic Kitten.
I was quite impressed with the blonde (female) singer at the piano tho'
