have a feeling that the first premier for the movie (yeah, there can be more than one premier) was held in New York in an attempt to frustrate any negative publicity about the title.

Waht a set of pillocks. I felt so annopyed by this PC gone barmy, I emailed them this :
"The World Trade Centre" was destroyed, NOT "The Two Towers" or even "The Twin Towers" which are actually in Kuala Lumpur and were still there the last time I looked.
What on earth are you suggesting here? That Peter Jackson is trying to make money off the back of this?? Get real, its named after the BOOK, and any suggestion otherwise is deliberate misinterpretation by yourselves - in order to maximise exposure and make money from your own website I expect. Banner adds next eh?
I agree that it was a terrible act, and sensitivity on this planet is usually low. However, this campaign is ridiculous, and you are trivialising the issue whilst at the same time making yourselves objects of ridicule around the globe. How will THAT benefit the victims?

I am so sick of this type of cr@p. What happened on Sept 11th was a tragety and will always be remembered but how long do we have to put up with bleating yanks that identify everything with this disaster and drip and moan.
Before the film "The Two Towers" was released the Americams refered to the Trade Centre as the Twin Towers but now it appears that they are also known as the Two Towers. What next? The double towers, The duplicate towers?
If they spent less time raising irrelevant arguments and more time in helping those affected and preventing another attack the better.
This is just my opinion so put your flame guns away.

Further thinking on, its GOT to be a wind up.
The creators of the movie have free speech, so what makes you think they should have to change the name of the movie?
We believe that Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema's actions are in fact hate speech. The movie is intentionally being named The Two Towers in order to capitalize on the tragedy of September 11. Clearly, you cannot deny the fact that this falls under hate speech. We believe that if they will not willingly change the name, the government should step in to stop the movie's production or to force a name change.

ahhh Americans. I dunno I really don't.
I was nearly, very nearly involved in a serious "chat" about this very matter on a chat room the other night. Some yanks were going on, and on, and on, and on (as they do) about patriotism, and how fab the USA is, etc.. Someone mentioned 9/11 and then Lord of the Rings. And well, this two towers thing came up. I told em to get the book and see what it's called. One fool said "well they changed the name of the book to annoy americans" ummmmmmmmmmm, I think they might have been written before the WTC was around!

Oh and I am NOT anti-american, I have american family, and I do like the USA (great fast food! mmmm Jack in the box, mmmmmm).
Not belittling the lives lost in the WTC attack, but you don't hear many people complaining about the many many people who have been killed by acts of terrorism by the IRA, do you? certainly the whole of the UK does not stop when a bomb goes off, and even so we don't keep harping on about it and getting silly petitions to change the names of films because they might offend.

Agree the events that took place were terrible. However, the bloody book was written decades before the WTC even existed for christ sake!!
