Question

SuzyQ needs a new car, and she want's a 4x4, a Forrester s/tb would fit the bill, but she's not sure that her potential 2 weimaraners would happily fit in the back, along with associated bits and bobs that one has with dogs n 2 kids and 2 adults.

She likes the Grand Voyager, Trooper, Disco, and a few other 'normal' 4x4's

We were watching US Marshals the other day and they all crammed into a GMC SUV type thing, and her eyes lit up. Therefore it's time to look into the yank tank area of 4x4's or SUV's as they tend to call them.

Anyone got any details, preferably websites, for companies in the UK (pref south east) that import/specalise in US cars/suv's/4x4's??

Feel free to talk to me, or suzy herself, at brands on friday if you want. Just don't ask her about why she needs a 4x4 well, unless you want a heated debate

Anyway, try:

Hi, Suggest you get a copy of CLASSIC AMERICAN mag (tel 01483 211222 if problems). All the contacts you might need. Some good second hand stuff as well if of interest. David

If you are buying new; Ford are bringing over some of their big stuff, adapted for the UK with proper indicators etc. - it's at the Motorshow, apparently...?

Just don't buy a Ford Explorer especially if it has Firestone tyres fitted..

Big problems for them over here.. The tyres have been known to break up at freeway speeds and then the things rollover.. Caused more than 80 deaths..

They were discussing this on the USA BBS today

Was thinking about an explorer actually. Had heard about the firestone tyre problem, but assumed that UK spec cars were OK. After watching 'Tonight' last night (confusing eh?) which had a bit about this I'm not too sure on explorers, well, with firestone tyres. I'd go to the ford dealer and force them to change them.

Thanks for the info, will read it when I've got a spare mo.

hmmm, humvee! now that would be nice!
