Just joined and thought i'd say hi!
Also kind of hoping somebody could help?
I got flashed by a gatso about 3 weeks ago, but have yet received nothing through the post! (I realise there may have been no film), but I recall someone saying that unless you get the ticket within 2 weeks then it is not valid!
Does anybody else know whether this is correct?
Cheers in advance

I got flashed by one earlier this year on the A68 on the way back from Edinburgh. It was the first time i had been up there for years and i didnt realise that the cameras can get you as you approach them

I was overtaking a long line of cars and had gathered quite a bit if speed, think i was doing around 85mph when it got me.
Anyway, i waited and waited, but thank god, nothing came through the post

Unfortunately it is longer than 2 weeks. Closer to 2 months as I was caught on camera and didn't even know until about 6 weeks later when the letter dropped through the letter box!
Good luck anyway mate, hope you get away with it!

CELL, you "got away with it" because you can't be done by a Gatso if you are approaching it. Not yet anyway.
dan4 - it IS two weeks mate. If you're sent your NIP more than two weeks after the incident, it is not valid and you do not have to pay. But if the postman takes weeks to deliver it to your door, then unfortunately you don't have a comeback.

I dont know if anyone has driven that road before, but limiting it to 60mph im my opinion is damn right ridiculous. I accept there are parts that are a bit tricky but a lot of it is straight and open. Travelling 100 miles @ 60mph aint much fun.

Yep, 100% sure CELL.
But it's a weird thing. Even though this is true, whenever i approach one, i never speed, just in case it's the day when the Government have allowed forward facing Gatsos to operate.
They can catch you as you approach them, but apparently legislation prevents them from doing so, because of the hazard of the flashgun blinding drivers.
Which does beg the question - why are they allowed to flash even once ? I assume they cannot be programmed to not flash under these circumstances.
Have you got a radar detector and/or Geodesy? Well worth it. Though with a similar mentality, i never speed past a Gatso even if my radar detector says it's not loaded, just in case it's the day my detector isn't working properly. Utterly illogical!!

Ive been on the A68 many times and agree its difficult to stick to 60![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Dont worry about being flashed if the camera faces you, they can do nothing. Does put the ****s up you when you fly past them at night and they go off though![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

From what I've heard if you get done by a gatso the police have 14 days to get a NIP out to you, this is done to avoid the police gathering lots of points and sending you enough to ban you in one hit.
However if you get busted by the FEDS in a cop car or a copper holding a speed gun then they can take as long as they want.
IMO they should put resources where it needed i.e. bobbies on the beat to protect our Scoobies from the **** heads who nick/scratch them.
My 2p's worth

Guys, just a warning, there are front facing speed camera's out there (seen a few in Lincolnshire), they use infra red flash though
-------------------------------------------
Truvelo Speed Cameras
The forward facing Truvelo camera system is designed to take photographs of the front of a passing vehicle. This allows the picture taken to show the driver of the vehicle as well. In countries such as Switzerland, Germany and the Scandinavian countries driver recognition is a required factor to enable a successful prosecution of a speed or red light offence.
A single front photograph, taken just after the vehicle has crossed the piezo sensors used for speed measurement, includes all the secondary check information required.
To avoid the 'flash' which is given out by a rear facing Gatso camera the Truvelo system uses an infra red flash which produces no visible 'flash' to the approaching driver.

Seen them when I was down South. You cant pick them up with a radar detector either, you need one of those GPS thingmyjobies.
Thankfully they are not got them in Scotland![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

There are in lots of places roadrunner, but they're not Gatsos.
If you're done by a Truvelo, you probably won't even know until the thud of the NIP on the doormat.
