ebay possible paypal fraud help
#1
ok got a few phones on ebay, on two phones have one chap mailing from indonesia wanting to complete with paypal, large amount of £600
now i know that fraud on there is happening quite a lot, but also dont wanna loose a possible sale.... what if i let him pay me in paypal, leave the funds in the paypal account and not post the goods for a couple weeks? long enough for anything to come ontop?
what would happen if is fraud? paypal just take the funds back out of my account? in which case no loss to me as will still have goods, ill just have to blag the long delivery time.
any suggestions?

LardyPants (great name )
I'd be very very suspicious. Have a look at this thread to see what I mean.
An awful lot of fraud is coming from countries like Indonesia. Also bear in mind the Paypal reputation isn't great, they only cover you for roughly the first $300 and their t&cs mean that they take little or no responsibility for transactions - pretty bloody useless really.

If it's an ebay buyer from Indonesia I'd frankly not even bother hoping that it's a serious transaction and walk immediately.
Edited to add that I wouldn't even bother taking the funds and delaying shipment for the risk to the ebay rating having had fraudsters and non-payers leave -ve feedback in the past.

If it's the usual scenario from Indonesia:
Auctions are still open.
Recently registered buyer.
"Buyer" mails asking you to close early for a very good price.
Pays by Paypal.
Requests fastest possible shipping, cost is not a problem.
Even if you take the money and leave it in your PayPal account you'll still be out of pocket WHEN the chargeback happens. You'll already have paid the Paypal commission and they will charge you £10 for taking the money back. Doesn't matter if there isn't enough in your Paypal account.
I wouldn't suggest you walk away - run
I suspect that the legitimate buyers of mobile phones on eBay from Indonesia could be counted on the fingers of a boxing glove. Ask yourself why should they want to buy from the UK when they have far cheaper markets much nearer to home.
I have absolutely nothing against the people of Indonesia in general. I have some friends who live there and they are finding it almost impossible to buy anything over the web these days as many companies won't entertain credit cards from there at all.

why not just get them to transfer the funds directy to your bank account?
If they have a problem with that then walk away/hunt them down and kill them like the theiving pigs they are.

Indonesia is fast becoming the 'Nigeria' of the Far East. Ask anyone who is involved in international banking and they will regard any payment as suspicious - just as we used to do with Nigeria. The choice is yours....
