Now I know bugger all about this sort of thing but i'm hoping someone on here will ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I've got a Proline DVD2000 DVD player & want to set up some sort of Surround sound system thingy. It says thet it has an MPEG/Dolby Digital/DTS Passthrough Decoder built in so what would I need to get to do this? Presumably just an amp & speakers or would I need a new decoder? Or is this just necessary to get Dolby Digital 5.1?
Can someone just throw some ideas my way & maybe point me in the right direction to getting something for around £200/250. I don't need much as my lounge is the size of a matchbox![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

you'll need an amp and some speakers ( and a f*ck load of cables
)
If your rooms not huge , then somewhere like richer sounds will probably have a suitable bundle.
Expect to pay upwards of £100 for the amp , £200 up for 5 speakers.
Set aside a few quid for some decent cable & interconnects too.

What do you reackon on the Sony HT-BE1 system with built in decoder & amp? It can be picked up for £220.00 at the moment (RRP £280) & has 5 speakers & a sub. It got voted as the best budget DVD upgrade in the Home Cinema 2002 awards.

pick up a cheap denon 1601, 1602 or 1603 amp there good quality and you dont have to go way over the top with high out put speakers beacause of the power of this amp, then best thing to do is but a speacker package that has a sub included because if you dont have the sub the sound doesnt have that cinema quality, richer souds will probably do a cheap eltax set for about £100-200
that will make a basic first home cinema sound system

Right coz my lounge is incredibly small i've ordered the Sony one (HT-BE1) which I managed to find for £195.00 on the net. That's stupid money when Dixons sell it for £280.00!!!![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
