any advice on what frame rate I should use for videoing the various DIY projects on the car !
bit of a first timer at this
I was thinking 1 sec in every 30 sec ?
Is there a rule of thumb to use, estimated work time = 4 hrs (i'm removing the headers, porting them and changing up pipe.

My maths is not so good
4 hrs = 240 mins = 14,400 secs
2 secs every min would be :
480 secs = 8 mins
8 mins of me under my car scrabbling about ???
would that be too long / boring

Cheers for any advice / sarcastic comments

Too long/boring?
Surely that depends on who's watching it, doesn't it? I could have easily sat through another 4 hours of LOTR part one, but rest of family had had enough after 3.5.
Your rate seems OK, but may miss a crucial bit: 30 seconds is a long time. Why not make it longer, then spend half an hour editing out bits where all you can see is you under the car?
Oh and DO use axle stands etc: we don't want to be reading about any nasty accidents on here thankyou!:

been there done that
Imagine an old fiesta if you will, with a nice big straight beam axle at the back, was working on the hanbrake cable I think, both back wheels were off, I had the Jack on the beam axle in the middle.
.
.
.
till I managed to yank on the cable a bit hard
the jack slid across the axle, putting the weight of the car in fresh air fastest I moved all year

p.s I learn't my lesson

Why not record at normal speed and slow down afterwards using software?

In 45 mins this little snippet of the vid will be live.
I think I may have overdone the quality
7.5MB for 15 secs is a bit much

anyway for those that have their feet up at work, this might give you something to do
