If I was to 'loose' my new Nokia 6610, and claim on the insurance. Does the 'lost' phone get locked by my service provider?

If you were to loose your 6610 nowadays, the phone will in effect be useless on any network. The only way around this, is that if the *person* who had the phone was to change the IMEI number.

Since the law is cracking down on *phone thefts*, not many people even want to talk about how to change such things as IMEI numbers on phones anymore.............. hence why secondhand sim free phones *thats legit ones* are worth so much money nowadays.

Regards,
Shaun.

Of course you will need a valid IMEI that is in the "allowed" database. 5 years is the term being muted but how they would enforce it is another matter. Actually changing an IMEI is very straight forward getting the info is easy just ask the question via Google or any search engine and sit back and trawl through the thousands of replies.
