My girlfriend and I are off for 3 weeks in Thailand at the end of January. We will be staying :
6 nights in Krabi at the Rayavadee Premier Resort.
10 nights on Phi Phi at the Phi Phi Holiday Inn Resort.
3 nights in Phuket at the Banyan Tree (Jacuzzi villa).
Has anybody stayed in any of these accomodations ? Any views on the accomodation, trips worth taking, etc etc etc. I'm just basically asking for a little advice and a few opinions before we go. So whats worth doing and whats not ? Whats worth buying, and whats not ? Bla bla bla !
Any feedback is appreciated !
Cheers !

Went in May and had a fantastic time..
The Banyan Tree in Phuket is amazing, we staying at the same in
Bankok, and the massages are well worth the $s - even if you only have one !
10 days in Phi Phi is a long time though, unless you intend to go diving. We only went for 48hrs, and pretty much saw everything - but if you just want to lie on a tropical beach and chill you cant really go wrong and the scenery is superb. It is overrun with travellers though which may be a bit off putting
!
Make sure you hire a little man and his boat to take you to Bamboo Island, which is a little further away than the " beach " island, and thus less crowded - an amazing tropical paradise
.
I'll ask the misus later if she remembers the hotel.

I stayed in Krabi, its gorgeous! One of the best holidays I've had.The Hotel you are staying in is the best,a little isolated but a fab destination(could'nt afford it myself but saw it!)
10 days in Phi Phi does sound a little long. One of the naturally most beautiful islands I've been to but maybe a little spoilt by downmarket Australian backpackers(sorry for being a snob)
If you have a favourite suit take it with you and the tailors will make you excellent copies in the material of your choice made to measure for less than £100! I had 3 made.If you d'ont have a favourite then take a cutting from a fashion mag of one you fancy and then they will tailor it to your size.

Banyan Tree Phuket is one of my favourite hotels in the World!
The islands from the Bond film Man with the Golden Gun are not far and that's well worth seeing. It's been a while since I was in Thailand (worked there once) but you will love it.
Good choices but if it was me I would have spent some time in Bangkok - it's dirty, smelly but great if your not too British about things
!
Have a great time - would be interested to know how you find Krabi/Pi Pi not been there but might do soon (see Maldives thread)
Cheers Richard

Make sure you get to the best beach in thailand, Monkey Island as the locals call it. We got a speedboat trip and it stopped off there. We went on lots of trips and visited James bond island, the beach (off the film) plus various others. None compaired to Monkey island. ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Have a nice trip it's spetacular.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Keep them coming ! As for feedback when I return.... no problem.... would be glad to.
So far then the general concensus is :
Bamboo Island,
Monkey island,
James Bond island,
The beach from the film,
Anything else worth considering ? Any unusual customs by the way. Was watching a travel program last night and it was actually from Malayasia... they had some customs which had to be obeyed. ie. Girls covering up in certain places... head covering to be worn etc etc etc. Havent heard of anything along this line in Thailand, but thought I would ask.
Cheers !

Ricky,
As you are in Phi Phi for a while, to see Monkey Island and The "Beach", takes an afternoon with a little man and his boat - but prepare to be a bit supprised.
The scenery is amazing but both were covered in litter and tourists, which was a little off putting to say the least - That was why I recommended Bamboo Island as well - But to be honest you can do all 3 in a day.
It may be worth looking into what trips you can do from Phi Phi which are a little longer ie: 2 - 3 days.

While u are there dont fall into the trap of a friendly game of connect 4 at the beach bars with the local women. Before you know it you will owe them 4 rounds of drinks, and they wont tell you that at the start

The only trips that have been mentioned so far guys are the beach trips. Just out of interest are there any other trips that anybody is aware off ? I have heard most things are relatively inexpensive over there. Can anybody put approximate prices on anything to give me an idea of how much I should bring ?
Thanks again !

Was in "PHUKET" last August and really enjoyed the place.. All the attractions mentioned worth visiting.. I puchased a new suite from Patong worth every penny and cheap compared with UK.. If you like haggling then you will have fun with the markets and shops.. If you after night life then Patong is worth visiting, but mind out for the lady boys...!!
You will enjoy Phuket...
You will enjoy Phuket...
