I always wonder why when you see security camera images, they are always so poor and grainy? How many times have we seen footage of people committing offences where the police cant make out the culprits face?
Killers pick up their prey. You can hardly make out the car, never mind a useful image!!
People attacked on the street - gangland activity/senseless attacks/rape - the list is endless etc.
Peoples property vandalised ..........and god knows whatelse.
Is there someone who regulates these camera's to a certain standard. The only ones I've seen which are decent are those in city centres - specifically for the Police.
Moan over - it just annoys me that alot of these so called 'security detterants' dont provide joe public with any real comfort factor.

Stoke-on-Trent has a big network of cameras and I've been in the central room for it. Impressive set-up, plenty of TVs funnily enough.
Quality of the feeds is excellent, but then they do use a private fibre optic network so have bandwidth to burn.

Hello
My wifes car got broken into in a pub. They had it all on tape. But the tape was of such poor quality, that you couldn't see who it was. The excuse: "Oh, it's always like that. It IS dark outside you know".
I do wonder what the point is of these cameras...
Steve.

Hi ,i service cctv and most customers want to spend the very lease on cctv , videos running 24 hrs a day last only 2-3 years, tapes never get changed, i.r lamps dont last long and cost a bit, lens dirty etc, only the M.O.D,sites,burger king/kfc and town centers and malls spent the money .
