Bridging Loans - help/advice

You know the type, the ones used to cover a shortfall in what your mortgage will cover when buying another house, before you sell your current abode.
Seems to me like there's not many of the high-street banks that market these products. They're mainly covered by independent lenders.
Has anyone dabbled in this area recently and has the benefit of experience in dealing with any of the independents? I can't say I'm happy at the thought of dealing with anyone other than the major banks...

Ta folks,
Been to Barclays today, they would not / could not offer a "bridging loan", they preferred to try and remortgage for me. No better than my current motgage lender, max 75%.
They then tried to offer me a personal loan for the difference. Trouble is the amount I want is about 3 times DrEvil's car loan which is then over the Barclays "personal" loan limit. Grrrr

Barclays will do them.. I had one for a car, circa £12,000, a few years back, well in 2000 actually. I was waiting for an insurance company to pay up.
