NT4 Workstation SP5

Here goes....

Had a PartionMagic C: resize die at 70%

Did a reboot and NT couldn't find the C:winntsystem32configsystem file

IE the registry!!

Off a boot floppy all the files were there but SYSTEM must have been corrupt.

Did a check disk which repaired the FAT table and a load of Bad Size file errors

So then tried a Repair - first replacing all non standard files - OK, then repair SYSTEM registry key - reboot

I thought it had done the trick, but when I came to log on it wouldn't accept any log-on attempts due to the Netlogon service not started, well I couldn't start it from the logon screen so did another repair this time on the User Accounts & SAM registry key, this now boots OK but it has no accounts to log on with, no administrator or nuffin, at least it's not accepting any password or users.

I have done this key before on others but not got anywhere, is there a way of logging on to set up new accounts, if not what's the point of having a repair option of a key that's unfixable ??

ANY HELP GRATEFULLY RECIEVED , I'm desperate to get this PC up again to get a program on it running to get some data.

What are you trying to achieve ? just sign back on to get data off it ?

If so.. reload NT into a new directory... that will allow access to the partitions..

If you have done a full repair.. u will have lost your accounts..

I take it you didnt create any ERDs ?

This is the quickest/easiest thing to do.
