Car broke down today on the M42.
Tow truck arrived at 9.32 and loaded the vehicle on back of truck.
I get a call at 11.05 from Tracker Network to say that my vehicle had moved.
So why did it take them 1 1/2 hours to inform me of this. If the car had been forcibly removed it would have probably have been stripped by the time they called the police.
All i can say to anybody whose got Tracker installed is don't bank on getting your car back if it's stolen. Their response time is a bloody sham!!!!

Have the same Navtrack proactive system and tested it the other day by not deactivating when moving the car onto the drive.
Navtrack rang within 2 minutes asking for details so worked just as it was supposed to.

Also very impressed with Navtrack. Brought car to Finland, took it for a service. Sat drinking coffee when a call came in from Navtrack to say the car was moving. Told them all was well, then was asked "Errr, where are you currently sir?" "Finland", I tell them. "Aaaaaah! That explains why your car's location is showing as Kerava, Finland", said a relieved sounding voice! Nice to know that if somebody does manage to take the car away and starts it up several thousand miles from home I'll still know about it ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I had NavTrak ProActive on my Scoob.
At TSL one day for some work, they moved it from one ramp to another (a distance of about 5 metres) but without deactivating it.
I had a phone call in minutes saying my car had moved. Impressive.

I live in N. Ireland and have a tracker on my motor as the insurance company demanded it, hope it works better than your experiences. But I was told that the Garde (police in the Republic) do not yet operate the system so if they steal my car, 16 miles down the road they will be in another country that does not have the technology to recover my car and wouldn't let our police over to get it. That fills me with joy.

The only false alarms I've had from NavTrak is from when I haven't turned it off!!!!! The proactive one
But another thumbs up from me, on the ball, very nice on the phone - superb.
Last occasion, car didn't even move, sat on the drive, turned on, sat a few minutes, forgot to deactivate, turned off - went in the house. Minute or so later I had a call asking if everything was ok with the vehicle as it had started and sent them an alert, but was still showing at my address.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Superb.

In todays modern tecnology society, is there no tracking device that can be fitted and monitered by the owner??
We all know that the cops dont seem to give a **** about car theft, and it also seems that these private tracking firms dont either, so cant we do it ourselves??
I know if it was my car, I would like to be the one getting my hands on the ***** that stole it, even if it was only long enough for me to "talk" to them for an hour or two til the cops eventually arrive.
Im not sure about the rest of the country, but as far as I know Securicor operate Tracker here, and it is nothing to do with the police. I would also thingk, that they ( Securicor, or the Police ) would have no interest in retreiving the car form certain areas of Belfast or other areas, due to the risk it would pose to them.
So many times in the past, even when police do locate a car, they simply tell you where it is, and its up to you to go get it. They want nothing to do with it, in case it is a booby trap.
DIY Tracker????

ITIS holdings have always owned Navtrak, but it may have been glossed around or a subsiduary or whatever, but its deffo them all the time.
ustole
Yes you can![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I've done it for the company I used to work for using GPRS trackers & am doing it again for the one I'm currently contracting for.
There are a variety of systems, GSM/SMS or GPRS that'll allow you to set up & monitor yourself.
Drop me a mail if you want any more info...

I had Tracker on my old Subaru......when the RAC loaded it on the flat bed, I had a phone call within a minute to tell me that the car was moving.
Also the garage where it was it moved the car and I was alerted by Tracker. I was able to phone up the garage and demand why it was being moved without my permission.

anyone "tested" an RAC TRACKSTAR. had mine a few months, never found the box of tricks or the ariel and I have had half the car apart !
begining to wonder if they ever actually fitted it![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
wonder if pushing it out the garage without unlocking it would do the trick![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
should I have a go !

I have RAC Trackstar....
Never had a call from them ever... But then again the car has not been knicked!
Still, curiosity takes over and I would love to 'test' the system...
Anyone got any idea on how I could do this?
Mak.

Well mine works I can tell you that. I have been called a few times, twice when i first had it fitted (faulty motion sensor) and once through my own sillyness. I only rolled it 3 foot forward.

Puff,
Doh!!
Never noticed it on the NavTrak site b4!!
While I'm here, have you any idea how much it costs to remove the unit from 1 car and fit into another? (removal and fitting would be different days)
Cheers
Neil.
