They must have meant it, the streets were sealed off half a mile around.
But i don't see it leading to a riot. Why would it? I don't think many people would openly associate themselves with the fanatics in that place.

We are a supposed to be a liberal and tolerant country. Could you see the police in Saudi Arabia doing a raid on a christian church or harrass christians in this manner?.

DRUNKNORGY, we are TOO liberal and FAR TOO tolerant.
Hence Al-Quaeda supporting nutters are currently residing in Finsbury Park mosques. Or is that ok with you?

Actually you would be very lucky to find a Christian Church (no other variations but Muslim or Christian).
In fact wearing a cross is a very dangerous thing to do in Saudi, I have known people getting into trouble with the Police for wearing one.

I thought that Islam recognised all other religions (they do see Jesus as a prophet i understand as opposed to christianity who recognise no other religion at all). Why do these fundamentalist seek refuge n the mosques, I would have thought that the leaders would look to distance themselves from them. They must know that they are radicals ?.

Thank **** for that, at last they have decided to take action against hook hand and his bunch of scum. Finsbury Park Mosque has been an excuse for religion far too long when the security services have known all along its hiding some of this countrys biggest and most dangerous Al Quaeda members. I have raised this issue on posts a few times before but never thought they would have the guts to do it
I don't know about raid it, they should have carpet bombed with it a B52
Oh FFS just seen they haven't even included Abu Hamza in the people detained!!! Here is an example of his interests :-
http://www.al-bab.com/yemen/hamza/hamza1.htm
Do a search on him on google and you will find out what a complete and utter terrorist piece of **** he really is
When is this country going to start clearing up the terrorists at home b4 even looking abroad

I had to laugh when the Police Officer Interviewed was VERY careful to point out that they would not go into any rooms used for praying/worship.
Errr...helloooo... If you wanted to hide something then, wouldnt you just dump under the altar (or whatever they use)
If youre gonna go to the trouble & danger to raid a place to search would'nt you INSIST on going into every room?
Feckin PC bullsh1t

Dr Hu I totally agree with you on that point, without searching the whole place they are missing out on so much potential evidence its pathetic.
These are terrorists FFS and need to be dealt with accordingly. The prayer rooms have to be searched and the decent Muslims in this country would recognise that as being necessary to help clean up their religion and rid it of people who use it as a hiding place for their murderous activities.
The Governement and security services really need to pull their heads from out of their ar$es!!!

To be frank i would rather the police searched these areas along with the rest of the building just to be on the safe side - Better that than miss something eh?
religion aside the police should search each and every part of a church, mosque in fact any place of worship.

These suspects wouldn't desecrate the prayers rooms. They are devoutly religious, Otherwise why would they be so fanatical ?.
Ban all religions from this country and ban immigration. Sound harsh - well im fed up of it. Lots of these people don't like or respect out culture and way of living but due to cash want to be here. [rant over]

If there god deemed it ok to carry out these violations then I am sure that there god would deem it ok to hide the means to commit the violations in the prayer room.
The ones who are suicide cases think that as soon as they become a volunteer that there spirit has passed into paradise and that there body is taken over by there god, if that is the case then what is to stop these empty bodies using the prayer room to hide anything that would lead to more of them being caught, as I would of thought that the God who this so called war is being fought for would want them to do what ever was necessary to win, no?
mad mark

DO have you read my link above or any other info on Abu Hamza? He is the Imam or head of the Mosque. However he is also an extremist and thats an understatement, a terrorist most certainly involved in murder. Now if those are the activities he is involved with such as these etc how strict do you think his policy of running the Mosque is????
Don't be so naive as to think they respect their religion. Yes many Muslims would be horrified, these are not strict Muslims, they are murderors and need to be dealt with accordingly!

I've just read that thread on Abu Hamza. Makes me sick knowing this man is living in our country probably sponging off the state or being funded by Al Quaeda.
This government needs to wake up bigtime. How many warning signs does Tony Blair need ffs. Kick these fanatics and any supporters out before they plot something big. someone needs to take a hard-line approach.

If Abu Hamza is a terrorist, why hasn't he been brought to book?. Also if he has known terrorist links, why do the muslim council allow him to continue as the imam of the finsbury mosque?.

DO he is revered by many of the leading Muslims in this country. The fact he is a right hand man of Bin Laden in this country means that not many people outside of the law wish to make life difficult for him.
As for why he is still here? Ask the bloody Government cos I got no idea. The security forces are well aware of his activities, all I can think is they use him for intelligence, altho my personal belief is that this is pretty fruitless and he should be deported at the earliest moment possible, if they can't arrest him. However under this countrys powers of arrest he could be arrested under the prevention of terrorism act. Why he hasnt is a total mystery, I just hoipe there is a justifiable reason for letting him have the freedom of this country.

If he is being protected by high ranking members of his community, then they should be brought to book if it can be proved. Its not a crime to empathise with his cause though is it?.
We send weapons to Israel which they use against the palestinians don't we?. The reason why they receive support across the Muslim community is for this reason. He is seen as a freedom fighter.

U have misundestood me m8, he is not loved or protected by the good Muslims of this country but no one has the power to remove him from his Mosque. Do you think the proper Muslims want to be shown to be causing trouble with a known terrorist who has the backing of Bin Laden. I don't think so somehow. Some of the highest up Imams in this country have spoken out against him in the press but thats all they can do.

Holy Fek, watch the BBC news tonight folks, I can not believe the attitude of the local residents. They are saying its outrageous and that Algerians are being picked on. Well if they don't like us investigating terrorism they can **** off back to Algeria then where they can do all the terrorism they want!
And Abu Hamza is interviewd saying its propoganda, yeah right m8, just like you are an upstanding member of the community

About time this happened IMO Best thing they could do now is shut it down and demolish it.
