Lets get it over and done with this month. You have lost loads of money as people will have moved on etc.
So how about we just give our money to any charity we want and enclose a note saying why we are giving the money.

Quite happy to donate money to a charity, as I can't remeber how much I pledged, I'll have to guess the amount.
It does seem crazy the amount of red tape that stifles initiatives like this.

I sent my donation to British Diabetic Society with a note why I sent it just before Christmas
I appreciate the problems behind it but can't help thinking Charities lost out on this one though

To whom it may concern
I am a member of an Interet board called "Scoobynet" (www.scoobynet.co.uk) It is the worlds largest Subaru (Famous make of rally car) forum.
Last year its owner Simon de Banke set a "World record" driving one of these cars. The members of this forum where asked to donate money to a charity.
I have chosen your charity to give my money to.I have enclosed a cheque.
Good luck with your good work
Luke

But if you're going to donate, folks, remember to fill out a GiftAid form for your chosen charity so they can claim back the income tax.
Edit: Luke, if you're going to provide a form letter it would be a good idea to get your spelling correct

I better finish rounding up the cash from the Nick Wild Tribute before they set you on me

Last week a few of us had the same thoughts and donated the money we pledged to Comic Relief in the form of GiftAid.
http://www.comicrelief.com
Comic Relief recieved 295 pounds from EvilBevel, DocJock, dba and JohnR.
Taz recently had a relative pass away because of cancer, so he donated his 25 pounds to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
So that's 320 quid donated by the guys in IFG Club. World Pay receipts are available if required.
This isn't a dig at the organisers of the charity thing, we just felt that the sooner charities get the money, the sooner it does some good.
When I pledged the money I thought it was a case of do the deed, send the cash, charity is happy. Obviously it is more complicated, but IMO there is no reason why this money shouldn't have been in the charities' pockets ages ago.
I'm also sure they don't care if they get it all in one lump sum or individually. It all adds up to the same amount, no ? Do it as GiftAid and they avoid the tax too.
I'm not being melodramatic when I say the pledges don't mean **** if the cash is sat in our pockets, so we decided to do something proactive.

This record is second only to the longest time taken to organise a CD archive of technical information on a BBS![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I still don't know the result between the 355 and the scoobs![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Thanks DJ,
Luke... put up or shut up![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
This thing has lasted long enough.
I really hope (probably in vain) that the money somehow does some good somewhere to someone.
Happy new year fellows.
Theo
PS: yes, I'm bitter about this one.

I mean we paid up.
I could say "nothing prevents you from doing the same" but that would be politics, and I friggin hate BBS politics.
Of course, you could always doubt we actually did pay up.
