thats the thing why pay more and not be able to do anything else thats why i dont understand why people pay any more than 1k for insurance unless they earn like 30k plus i struggled to get to the 3rd week of the month with any money left when i was on 16.5k and i only had £159 for the car, £100 rent, £20 mobile, and about £200 for other stuff and from £1044 a month i hav about £520 and that whent on well drink, food and petrol.

I pay more, (a *lot* more), than 1k per year for my insurance because I think the Scoob is worth it, and because I can.
When I reach the stage where I can't, or where I want other things more than I want the Scoob, I'll sell the Scoob.
Seems like a simple concept to me.

Depends or your other commitments.
when i was 20 or so earning well, living at home, few commitments - i used to spend shed loads on cars. I now earn probably three/four times as much, have a mortgage, kid on the way so i now spend less.
As a rule of thumb as much as i can get away with.

same boat as me really. Live at home with parents (till gf finishes uni) and i dont like wasting money on alcohol, so it doesnt matter that nearly all of wage a month goes on my car.
