I'm becoming more and more detached from society. I hate people. Everyone, not just particular groups. It's starting to affect my work as I do everything possible to avoid talking to people on the phone.
Should I just give up and become a recluse or is there some kind of help I should be looking for?

NRev, i often feel the same about some of my users (lusers) as i call them.
however, i think its quite natualal to feel like this from time to time.
dont bottle it up, cause you'll end up frustrated.
go to a crappy nightclub and start a fight, that will relieve some stress!!!

alternatively take up fishing, its a great relaxant!!

OK, you're all making my head ache now.
Urge to kill rising...rising...
It is normal to keep a mental list of those people you need to take revenge on before you die, isn't it?
I might see a doc, get signed off work and write book base on my innermost urges.

It is normal but write it down else you might forget someone and make sure you find out addresses now so if you do decide that you have to kill yourself you can go round peoples houses one by one and kill them before taking your own life.

Sorry to hear this. I have a lot of experince with mental health (in relation to the job I do) Try to excercise, this is known to reduce depression etc, take up a hobby, like fishing or something without stress that helps you appreciate the beauty of nature and gets you away from busy cities and out into the country. I took up fly fishing and have never looked back. Try to put the fish back tho if you dont eat them as bashing them on the head may make you more depressed

Presuming that you're not kidding, Why not try to get yourself referred to a councillor by your Doctor?. You may gain some insight into why you are feeling the way you do.
In my opinion, Doctors aren't very well prepared to deal with these issues and tend to medicate to readily.
Don't wait for things to progress any further, and good luck.

Just look at that bloke who lives in a cave off Ibiza.
Fame, free food (probably) and he doesn't need to speak to anyone, just waves at passing boats and takes a p*ss in the sea !

NREV, i just did a Google search on "Sociophobia".
There are quite a few promising-looking links. Probably worth looking through before doing anything "formal", as referrals for psychiatric counselling have to be declared in certain situations i believe.
At least it will show you there are many others suffering the same sort of thing. Depression is much more widespread than many realise.
