guys n gals,
need to buy a new camera as my kodak DC240 has died. thinking of replacing it with another kodak around £300 but they seem to use MMC/SD memory cards. i have several CF cards at the moment.
just having a quick look it seems that CF are half the price, available in much larger sizes and have higher transfer rates. so why on earth are these MMC cards being used (except for the fact that they are physically smaller?)
not sure what to do now![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
cheers,

just been on the kodak site, seems that all their cameras use MMC except one (DX4900).
anyone recommend a camera around 300+vat? 3megapixel should do (i reckon on around 2MB per image at top quality for 3MP).

IMHO, CF cards are the way forward, unless you have a requirement for a particularly small camera. They're cheap, readily available from a number of different manufacturers, and offer the highest available capacities. You can also plug them into a laptop with a very cheap adapter.
For what it's worth, SD cards include copy prevention and encryption technology that I object to in principle, so I'd never buy them anyway.
Take a look at the Canon Ixus series - they use CF cards and generally receive very good reviews. They're not too big either.

The Viewfinder on my DC240 has just stopped working.
I'm thinking of the Kodak DX 4330 for around £210 even though it uses SD memory cards.
The Canon range seems more expensive than the Kodak range for similar specs to me.

guys,
thanks for the info. yep, i agree. CF has a databus of 16 bits, whereas MMC has a 1 bit databus and SD a 4bit. so why in hell would you buy something that is slower and much more expensive? why was MMC even invented? i know it's "smaller" but for flip sake CF is hardly "large".
i think after 4 kodak cameras it's time to move to another brand...
cheers,
steven
