Does anyone know of a scanner that will work with NT4 but thats NOT a SCSI interface?
I have a laptop user who wants a scanner but has no free pcmcia slots.
Most parallel scanners don't work with NT - something to do with the accessing hardware directly thing.
Remember NT4.0 doesn't support USB - and don't say upgrade to Win2K - I've got 250 users on NT4.0 - think I like throwing money to Bill Gates??
Any idea's peeps???

I had this very same problem, off the top of my head... i think we used a Canon
Canoscan N640P
It's very compact, only about 35mm high and only marginally bigger than A4, Ideal for using with a laptop on the move
Hope this helps

Dr Hu,
Although USB isn't natively supported under NT 4.0 (and never will be unfortunately) , there are some 3rd party companies who are using development kits to write USB drivers for NT 4.0.
I know Xircom have a product which is supported under NT 4.0 and allows mobile users to access 7 devices through a single USB port. You can snapin different modules (serial, parallel, LAN, cable modems, etc..)

Thanks for the replies - It seems that the NT drivers have been updated somewhat since I last looked for a parallel scanner (bout 18 months ago) when you had more chance of getting a blow job off the Queen.......ahh here comes Liz now.....
Thanks again - the Canon looks the biz!
