Thanks.

Sony TRV 16. Available on the web from Comet for £425.
Digital, bombproof, dead easy to use, good features, lightweight.

Question

Are there any that do really good stills as well? Oh, and they must have USB etc.

I've got the Sony Cam something which is an excellent camera. It cost about £350 about a year back, so will be slightly cheaper now. Quality of videos is good and has loads of little extras which I've never used.

Sony gets my vote as regarding the build quality too. I dropped mine on concrete too from 6 feet high and the camera was OK. you pay something more because of the SONY brand but it is WELL WORTH IT. After sales service is excellent and parts and accessories availability is second to none. enough said....

edited to correct spelling

I'm looking at investing in a digital camcorder.

I've looked around and been monitoring Which and What camcorder.

Check out the Cannon MV 550i.

Most places are selling it at around £799, but itis about for £599.
It comes with software and firewire cable to connect to your PC for editing.

It has a x22 optical lens (not many of them around now)

and it's not much bigger than your hand (Average size)

Spec is very good for money.....

try the tesco, comet or dixons pages for the spec.....

It's a no nonsense bit of kit.....

The MV 530i is x18 lens and a bit cheaper.....

Depends what you want out of it....

JVC do very small GR-DVP series, best at the mo is the 7 but thats round 800quid. the 5 shoudl be in your price range and all it loses id the DV in bit. great still for a video camera, im very happy with mime - survived being hammered round the track at 155+mph when on holiday on the bike!
