Just a word of warning to those of you lucky enough to work in and around the Slough area.

One of our sales managers was car jacked at gun point on Monday night. Police reckon they picked him up coming out of the company car park and then followed him down the M4 for several junctions. After coming off the M4, his car was hit from behind at a set of traffic lights. He got out to be confronted by two blokes in ski masks pointing a gun at him.

He was asked to step aside (not surprisingly, he did) and they drove off with his brand new Golf V5, laptop, wallet etc etc. He was OK - shaken and shocked, but nothing worse thankfully.

Police reckon the car was stolen to order. I know Slough is the pits of the earth and I am always slightly paranoid when driving through there - just goes to show that it isn't just 'flash' cars at risk.

Really starts me thinking about moving jobs. This is by no means the first incident that has occured around our office (including several incidents in the company car park which is covered by CCTV and patrolled).

Makes you think about being 'bumped from behind.'(not Julian Clary or Moses style). More gangs are doing this so i suppose you have to be wary and weigh up the odds it it happens to you. Make sure they get out first, if they look dodgy, just lock you're door and call the old bill.

****!! I work in Slough and drive a Golf V5.....it's certainly never something I thought I'd have to consider. I know it's a company car, but I wouldn't want to go through that.

1)Who would order a V5
2)Does anyone legit EVER buy ski masks? surely all you had to do was see who bought them and you'd get half the crims in the uk

Chris,

Is it not time to start driving to work in the MX5 instead?

"Just lock the doors and call the old bill." Good advice, but not so easy.

One of the reasons for ramming a car is that it pops open all the doors, as if in an accident. They'll be on you and in your car before you've got your wits back. Not nice.

Richard.

Not good this - I've been seriously considering getting something cheap and cheerful just to eat up the miles to and from work - rather than put them on the Scoob - this just adds another reason not to drive the Scoob to work. Pretty sad when you have to start thinking like this.

Jim - I'll email you in the morning - I think you will know the guy.

Cheers

I always used to use the visiors car park at Slough, never trusted the other one. Still, even then people told me of incidents in the visitors car park. I didn't have the Scoob then, thank goodness!

This isn't the first such indicent, IIRC.
