Hi Guys and Gals

I've been given a scsi card and 6 hard drives which if i can get working i can keep problem is i know nothing about scsi. The drives get recognised individually and i asume the jumpers 1, 2 and 4 are to select which number they are (ie 5= jumper 1 and 4), but i don't know what the res (reserve im asuming maybe for wide scsi which is 15 drives IIRC) and i've not got a clue what the last ones for electrical sign?

When i conect them individually there recognised but wont let me format them, say's something like device not ready, scsi card is a bootable one anyone help.

Thanks
Si

Si,

Have you got the software for the card ? If its a few of the Adaptec cards, I've got some of the setup software discs for them, let me know.

One thing that is fairly important is to get the termination right. If you have all the drives daisy-chained together, the last drive on the chain needs to have termination switched on and all the others need to be off. Unless of course the card can do its own termination (some can).

Er, cannot help more just know, more info. required.

Let us know how you have them connected physically.

Cheers

Ian

Yeah, Termination is pretty crucial.

Goto drive manufacturers website and they'll usually have the pin layout for each drive.

Are you using RAID on the drives ?
