Space Shuttle Blows Up over Texas

Whilst clearly sad for all their relatives and friends I think 9 people died in a train crash in Australia last week..I do not recall the Aussie PM giving a press conference that was 'taken live' by radio and TV in the UK...certainly the news stations in the UK did not go into overdrive and give it blanket coverage

Its hardly an equal comparison is it? Im not belittling either as a death is a death, but a shuttle explosion is a lot less common than a train crash.

Steve,
no offence intended, but train crashes do happen on a somewhat more regular basis than a space shuttle being lost. I'm not belittling anyones life here, just saying that this is a somewhat bigger thing than a train crash. I don't see a train spreading debris over many hundreds of miles.
My thoughts and sympathies go out to the seven brave people, and their families.

No offence taken. and I am not being disrespectful to those who sadly died.I was merely pointing out that the tragedy probably due to the ability to witness via live TV what was going on, is in real terms escalated out of proportion compared to other such accidents.
