I am looking to buy a Digital camera. There seems to be sooooo many out there. The two that have been recommended to me are:
1). Canon Powershot S30
2). Fuji Finepix F601

I have read up on both, they both have pro's and con's, so can anyone recommend one of these or another camera with a minimum of 3 megapixels.

If you can live with a 2x zoom, then the Canon Ixus V3 is a great "lifestyle" camera in that it's so damn small you'll take it everywhere.

I bought one for my wife for xmas, and she likes it.

I have a Canon Powershot A40 and it's superb.
A little on the heavy side, but the features are excellent.

If you have a Jessops in your area, you can get them to price match any internet site (bring along a printed copy of the web page as proof)

Minolta Dimage 7i.
Brilliant, well made, does all you'd want and more, and can be had for about £450 if you search. At least one person on here got one from Argos for £445!(They were £750 when new out!!!)

Dimage 7i is now discontinued and is being replaced by the 7hi. If you can get a 7i buy it, I did - got a brand new one for 399 !!!

Without a doubt its the best thing since something else cheaper...

I have a Fuji 4700, the F601 is the newer model, same electronics only the F601 has a docking cradle and a fancy designer look to it. Here are some pics and also here. They have been reduced in size to fit on the bbs but it'll give you and idea. I have got many pics printed onto normal photo paper and you cann't tell the difference between the digital pics and a traditional 35mm pic.
This is my second Fuji digital camera and I am in the process of upgrading (maybe today) to an S602. Fuji cameras give excellent pic quality and I would recommmend them highly, Hope this helps,

I have searched high and low for a Minolta Dimage 7i for the last 6 weeks now. They don't exist. Cheapest I've found them for is £590...the guy said he would have it sent up to their Manchester branch for me to collect...never heard from him again! PC World advertise them for £600 but have no stocks and are the most useless bunch of dimwits I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. They have NO idea if and when they will get stocks in, won't order one for me or do anything to help. Jessops don't have any in stock. Argos will not be getting any more stock in ever again. I am PEEEED off!!!

The 7i hasn't benn discontinued and isn't being replaced by the Hi. The Hi is a different class to the 7i.

It would be a bit stupid of Minolta to replace the 7i with a camera costing £350 more.

I went into Jessops armed with a price from Amazon.co.uk for a Fuji S602 and they matched it. Saved me £30, cheers, Grahame
