I take you have looked at rear projection TVs?
It's just that they seem rather poor compared to CRT etc.

I appreciate that but is it a good deal. I don't want to get one and then regret it. The TV we have at the moment is OK so I don't need to change. But if it is a bargain and I hear that they are good then I'll grab one.

Thats the same one on offer at the same price at Makros (offer starts 08/02). If you can get to one you can at least try before you buy.

Seems like a pretty good price. Do a Google search for reviews on the model number to see what its like to live with.

Do you know anyone who works for an electrical manufacturer? A mate used to work at Sony and could get a 44" for £400

I don’t think you can use games consoles with rear projection TV’s either but I could be wrong.

and you have to mask out all around the doors, blacken the windows, turn all the lights off, and squint your eyes up while jumping up and down.

then the picture is not too bad!!!

Cool

Not a Big fan of rear pro units, they tend to take up a fair bit of room and are damn heavy, picture brightness can drop off quite a bit as you physically move around past the edge of the screen.
Hidden inside it will be a LCD or a CRT(?) projector which may well require the odd bulb or two, have a good look at it in a shop first - All IMHO of course - have used them before in the events industry where rear projection space is an issue now 'replaced' by the trendier plasma units. seen them up to 60' which arrived in its own transit can in two sections and was a four man lift!

You do need to be 5+ feet back to appreciate the picture.

Should not be a problem connection a games consul, may well do S-VGA as well dependant on the projector.

my mate has gone thru 5 projection tvs in the last 6 months as there is always something wrong with it and he has had sony , toshiba and another make i think he is now going for a ppanasonic in the hope this one will bbe ok, you have to be sitting at the right height and directly in front of a projection tv cause if your not the picture will start to change the more you move out of the viewing area. if that is what your after that is a cheap tv for the size
