![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Simply, is it worth spending 4 grand (or more) on a flat and widescreen telly??
Has anyone bought one and wished they'd spent the cash on something else?
(Ok, so that's two questions)

For most viewing, a 28" or 32" true flat screen should be more than enough. Panasonic 100MHz flat screen TVs are nice too.
Edited to say that the TV's described above usually come in at under a grand -- and the picture & sound quality is very good (especially with DVD)
If you can, buy from John Lewis as they give a 5 year warranty on every TV they sell, and they compete pretty well on price too.

Why is it 4 grand though.......even top notch widescreens are less than 2K.
As for Plasma's i saw a Panasonic one the other day.....about 4K......after seeing that i'd never spend more than £1500 on a normal tv.
Save up for a Plasma

Paul, sort of. But i live in a very good reception area, and have an excellent aerial with upgraded cabling etc., so i'm used to a pretty good picture.
I reckon it's very difficult to tell the difference unless they're next to each other, which i guess won't happen unless i buy one. But my telly is quite old, and i'd like all the functionality you can now get.

£4k seems a huge wedge of cash, if spending that much I'd definately go for a big, decent, plasma and hang it over the fireplace ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I recently purchased myself a Sony 28" digital widescreen from http://www.indigo-av.co.ukfor £640, bargain, especially when I saw the same set in my folks Great Universal mail order catalogue for £1050
. Maybe you could get something like this for now and save up for the plasma later, or just wait and get the plasma
