OK.. All this talk of online gaming has got me interested now i've got ma Broadband.

How the hell do I get started, I'm trying to find this Counter Strike but can't find it anywhere , Am i missing something??? IS it just an add on for another game??

What do I need. Gonna get myself a copy of quake 3 aswell, get some practice in.... The last time I tried these sort of games was when I was Doom 1 Champion at University

Anyone give me some pointers

Cheers

A very Out of practice gamer

Cool

hi andy

welcome back to online gaming

it looks like we'll be playing CS again every Tuesday now we've been kindly offered another server

CS is indeed an add-on to Half Life.

If you own own ½ Life you can download the mod - but be warned i think the whole thing in one go is 100 ish mb !

try

What you are looking for is a box set called Half Life Generations.

It contains the original half life, opposing force, counter strike and a stack of add ons.

I got it at PC World last week for 20 quid.

Well worth the money.

Andrew.

Cool

hi andy

think even with that boxed set you will need a couple of downloads - 1 for the latest HL update and another possibly for CS itself ?

good thing it they keep upgrading the game and the mod to make it even more addictive than it is !

with broadband you dont have a worry downloading pactches either !

You are right, the box only contains version 1 but it actually contains the full retail version of counter strike, not just the mod version.

The upgrades are around 20Mb from memory, nae hassle with broadband

Anyone suggest where I can buy it online??

I just need the basics to Start, I'm not worried about downloading the add ons with Broadband

I got Half Life generations.

I have played Half Life a bit, but never installed any patches only played it stand alone though.

Haven't tried the other game at all yet Team Fortress or whatever it is.

The CS part of it works fine after it has been patched (19Mb) and the map pack updated (15Mb) as Steve will testify to being shot at on Tuesday night!

You should be able to order it online from PC World or Electronics Boutique etc, the price seems fairly standard at about £19.99, although I got it in EB Rochdale when they had a VAT free sale for £16.43 or something.

Oh, run it in OpenGL mode it is miles faster/better. You'll see what I mean when you try it.

See you Tuesday night for a shoot up!

You use wall hack and aimbot, so that was a bit unfair!!!

I never die cheaply. Those weapons cost a fortune.

It's an OpenGL DLL which allows you to configure the transparency of textures, so that you can see through walls.

You always could shoot through them (although the shots would have reduced force on the other side), but there was no point unless you knew where the enemy was..
