I was in one at the weekend. Absloutely awesome. It was a Hymer? S class which cost about 80k. I now want one, but I think 80k is a bit much for a glorified caravan. As I know nothing about them, can anyone give me any pointers on what to look out for, what I need and don't need on one, and what I should be looking to get for about 25k?

for £25k you should get somthing second hand in the top of the range Swift kon-teeki(sp) model ,2-4 years old, they tend to be low(ish) mileage for the year. most important thing to look out for is water ingress(leaking), check round windows, door and roof lights and where any molding are screwed in at, for for spongy pannels its very expensive to put right.
as for spec, the British marks(swift lunar elddis etc) from what i can remember(been out of the game 4 years)should have the following:-
hot water, cassete toilet, blown air heating, 12v and 240v electrics and fridge should be standard, espessialy on a kon-teeki.
what you should remember is with a motorhome is if you want to go and visit anything thats any distance is you have to pack up and drive there unless you have facility for a moped of push bike.
personaly i`m not keen on motorhomes as i find them cramped but i`m used to working on caravans
hope this is of some help

NAF a cassette toilet is a chemical toilet which has box that stores all the $hit and pi$$ in. the box slides out of a door on the outside of the van/motorhome and you can dispose of it without driping all over your lovely interior.

Had a 2.5TD Fiat Kon-Tiki for three years and you should be able to get a good one for £25k as Mike says. Travelled all over Britain with six on board and towing a box trailer full of kart racing clobber. Superb. The newer 2.8 even better. Have a look at Brownhills near Newark - hundreds of 'em
Richard.

If you want to have a look at some serious motorhomes online, look at some available from the Monanco Coach Corporation, particularly their Royale Class vehicles. I particularly like the flip down 42-inch plasma screen telly in the Kitchings coach. No idea what they cost but the other similar ones they make have prices starting at $475,000....
