London.Parking meter costs up 60%

They are putting up all the meter rates. Also no free parking on Sundays etc. ALL NIGHT also so no free parking after midnight..........

Westminster council now earn more from parking than they do from council tax. They have also introduced 24hr parking zones in the West End. They are pretty hot on policing these parking zones also. It is also the only place in the UK where disabled badges do not apply.
Because of the congestion charge, Westminster are seriously worried about the amount of revenue they will no longer get from parking when people boycott the charging zone (66% of which is in Westminster control). I suspect they will have to increase council tax massively to get the same income as well as increase the cost of parking meters.
Many of these parking meters only allow 2 hours of parking (with no return for 2 hours) in Westminster.
In several NCP car parks in the City/West End, it costs £22-24+ to park for 9 or more hours (ie a working day).

God i'm so mad i could crush a grape!!!
It costs me £x amount to drive into central London for work, another £32 in a NCP car park and now another £5 a day with the congestion charge.If i want to park in a metter around central westminster, it costs nearly £8 for an hour!
It is painful to take a train, 2 tubes to get to work which are unreliable so not much choice there in fantastic London transport..and it wont get any better if what has been written above is true.Fun Fun Fun. Why do i bother...
