But don't you see? The invasion of privacy has ruined their lives. Their every waking moment is filled with sadness and torment at this gross invasion of their privacy. The judge did point out that weddings are public occasions, and have to be so as to allow anyone who objects to the marriage to voice their opinion.

I wonder what would happen if I was to gatecrash one of these big celebrity weddings and say that I wanted to voice an objection?

If it is not a real objection then I think you can be called up in front of an ecclesiastical court.

And what penalties would an ecclesiastical court impose. Anyway, your objection could be valid "I have reason to believe the bride is already married" but turn out to be wrong

Surely there should be no penalty for an erroneous objection, providing it's not malicious. What happens in a civil ceremony if there's an objection?
