Optimax
#1
I filled up with Optimax today down near Chichester. Couldn't help but notice that Optimax is 79.9p a litre (seems fairly standard) but standard unleaded was 78.9p a litre.
Unit recently I found that there was 4 or 5p a litre difference between the two. In fact a couple of weeks ago some Shell garages were selling Optimax at 80.9p but they seem to be back to 79.9p a litre.
Anyone else noticed?

Same in Bristol.
I wonder if the price will go up when they refill the optimax tank? As they sell much less optimax than unleaded this may explain the difference but I am not complaining as I use 2.5 gallons of the stuff a day paid for out of my own pocket.

I did the Cardinal Sin and went to Tescos last night. Thought I would fill up and see if I notice a diff.
Was only £1.70 cheaper for the tank. Thats £3.40 a month for me, so about £40 a year more. Doesnt seem so bad now.
My local Shell garage hasnt had Optimax for about 4 months now, the only pump is always closed. Dont know if that is because its broken or what. Ive written a letter of complaint to the manager but am yet to receive a reply.
Simon.

Wish I only filled up twice a month! Its more like twice if not 3 or 4 times a week for me.
Pick up the new Nissam Almera tomorrow, keeping the Scooby but want to reduce the miles I am doing on it.

I feel for you, when I was in my last work I could use half a tank a day if I enjoyed myself a bit on the way, even trying to drive with fuel economy in mind was just too depressing as was used to my Corsa's 45ltrs surviving a week or more no matter how hard I drove - had my usual places I filled up and they get to know you in the Scoob... Still had the Corsa to drive in though, so I tended to do that more often.

Well got to say the new Almera is the answer. Filled it with Unleaded on Saturday now done 70 miles and the needle is still right near the top.
Scobby tucked up in garage, for high days and holidays!

Been like it for a while in Basingstoke.
I noticed when I filled up last week there was only 1p diff.
Seem strange, so I tanked my baby up thinking they were going to hike the price. (unled - 78.9, so therefor optimax - 83.9)
