The Japanese Ring

Went to the vid shop last night and saw a film called 'Ring O' on the shelf. It is the third sequel to the Jap version 'The Ring.' Yet the vid shop didn't have first two sequels???
Regarding the film it was a cross between Blair Witch and Carrie. Some parts were really quite creepy. not the best film i've seen but would love to see the first film 'The Ring.'

popeye,
i saw the original 'ring' in the last filmfour 'extreme cinema' season run on terrestrial C4 (they showed the sequel on the following night). unsettling and eerie, it has a really spooky, clever and unexpected 10 second sequence towards the end. i won't give it away. it's too good.
you won't find it in blockbuster but should have no probs getting it from a decent independent place.
critic mark kermode said in his intro: "if this scene doesn't make you **** yourself, then nothing will..."
cracking film.
i've since taped over it sadly. muppet.

They showed The Ring & it's sequel a few yrs back in Hong Kong television, on successive nights. Quite a few telelvision viewers checked into hospital after the programme, as they passed out due being scared.

Saw the American remake last night...very uncomfortable viewing. Couldn't believe how many parents I saw taking their kids to see it!!!
Tried to watch the original Japanese version last week but fell asleep halfway through (tired not bored)...so will have another crack at that tonight to see how it compares.

i suppose if you havent seen either of them, you should see the american one first then the japanese else youll be disappointed. well depends if youre into the glamour of hollywood or the rawness of japan

OK, seen both the Japanese and American remake now. I was severely dissapointed by the Japanese original, and in my opinion the American version is the far better film in that it tells a more convincing story where details of the story are discovered by clues rather than ESP. The filming techniques are also superior using big close-ups which enforce loss of peripheral vision on the viewer. All in all I'd definately recommend the remake over the original.

Saw U.S remake on tuesday on plane back from hols, thought it was great, got Jap original out last night watch with my sister, I was disapointed by the jap one, didn't have the 'shiver' factor of the american, however sister went to cnema tonight to see american one and said the jap one was loads scarier..
Which ever you see first i think you think is the better, both worth a watch tho.

saw 'the ring' at the cinema on sat.
prob the scariest film i have watched in a while. you have to NOT be scheptical about the whole video thing and try to belive it. if you do its so much scarier...
im getting it on DVD and am gonna scare a few mates with a little trick.
gonna watch it, then take some pics messing around on me digicam. gonna sneak off, download to me comp, blur the faces then upload back to the camera. that should scare them abit.
also, get a another mate to ring the housephone (gona txt him when) and to quietly say 'you have 7 days'
should scare a few of the girlies...
