Sorry if this has been discussed before but I am about to buy my 1st games console (by order of the other half!) - what should I buy or should I just buy a PS2 and foget the rest ?

depends what kinda games your into.
if you don't have a computer then you might want to consider a computer instead of a games console.
Personally speaking I've still got my original revision 1 Playstayion 1, still works great. Am thinking about a PS2 and will probably get one.
i've also just built a rather nice 'little' machine for my girlfriend, it's mainly for her to surf the net on, but it's got a fwe nice bits to make playing games a real hoot.
PS2 is good, plus with built in DVD player it's kind of killing 2 birds with one stone.
