Has anyone from here ever used Cobalts as DNS servers? If so, have you configured a secondary Cobalt DNS server to get the domain info off the main one.
How do you set up the secondary to mirror the primary? The manuals aren't that good and any help gratefully received.

If you do remember anything then it would be appreciated. Struggling to get it working at the moment. I am using 2 Raq 4r machines.
Many thanks.

I assume with the RAQ being nice and friendly you don't get to play with the actual config files themselves?
If you do (I guess it uses BIND) then I can probably help, otherwise if you have a nice pretty (intuitive?!) user interface , I can't!

Raqs use BIND (as everyone should but they're all tied into its user interface. All the backend stuff is written in Perl (and sometimes not very good Perl at that) which make changes to config files (all of them, Apache, sendmail, the lot) but the problem is that it seems to keep state in its own datafiles, so if you change a daemons configuration and it's not refelected in Cobalts datafiles then the UI wont show the actual configuration, just what's in its own files. It can cause problems if you modify a configuration manually. Best thing you can do is get hold of O'Reillys "DNS and BIND", it's a trivial job - once you know how

I'd agree with the DNS & Bind recommendation. Got one sat here!!
This should help with understanding, though if as Steve says you can't play with the files, may not help directly with the way to do in on your RAQ.
That said, if you don't understand the theory behind running a slave DNS (or DNS at all) then it would be helpful!
Thought of mailling colbalt support? After all, that's why you've paid for an out-of-the-box solution....
